2019 Blue Coaches

Dan Mulford

A Baltimore native, Dan captained the Calvert Hall Lacrosse team in High School and went on to play college lacrosse at Robert Morris University where he started for four years and captained the team for three. Dan is the current Defensive Coordinator at Calvert Hall and previously spent four years as the Defensive Coordinator at Robert Morris University. Now in his second year, Dan coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “influence the young men of FCA through the sport of lacrosse physically, mentally and spiritually.”

Chuck Breschi

A Cockeysville, MD native, Chuck attended Loyola Blakefield High School where he captained the lacrosse team and was awarded All-American honors as a defenseman. He went on to compete at the University of North Carolina and received honors as All-American twice, All-ACC, Co-Team MVP and served as Team Captain. Chuck currently coaches the defense at Loyola Blakefield and has coached youth lacrosse for over 15 years. Now in his sixth year, he coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “get the absolute best out of the kids and to help bridge the communication gap with parents so that the FCA experience is the best it can possibly be for all involved.”

Dylan Bozel

A 2015 graduate from High Point, Dylan was a midfielder before his career was cut short due to injury. During his Senior year, Dylan served as a student-coach helping create practice plans, running the scout team, and was the sideline control coordinator during games. For high school, Dylan attended Loyola Blakefield where he was a three sport athlete playing basketball, football, and lacrosse for which he served as Captain during his Senior year. He was also selected to play for the Baltimore Under Armour Underclassmen team. Prior to Dylan becoming offensive coordinator for the 2019 team he served as a huddle leader for the 2019 Blue team for three seasons while he was in college. 

Conner Annunziato

A West Chester, PA native, Connor captained the Bayard-Rustin High School Lacrosse team before competing collegiately at Goucher College. After tying the Goucher record for career assists, he came onto the Gopher coaching staff where he currently serves as the Graduate Assistant. Now in his second year, Connor coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “help individuals reach their goals on and off the field.”

Kevin Giblin

Long time Georgetown Prep coach and now current Head Coach at Bishop O'Connell. Coach Giblin has coached countless high school all-america players, many have gone on too have all-america college careers.  Coach Giblin will be working with both the offense and defense. 

2020 Blue Coaches

Bryan Kelly

A Towson, MD native, Bryan was awarded two All-American honors and an All-Metro honors at Calvert Hall and then competed with the World Champion USA U19 team in 1988. He went on compete at the University of North Carolina where they won the NCAA National Championship in 1991. He was awarded NCAA All-American honors, ACC All-Academic honors and the UNC Unsung Hero/Defenseman of the Year award during his time in college. As the Head Coach of Calvert Hall, Coach Kelly has won three MIAA-A championships (2003, 2012, 2017) and been awarded four MIAA Coach of the Year honors (1996, 2003, 2012, 2017). As a High School Coach and FCA coach for over 25 years, Bryan sees the importance of FCA to help players navigate life and he coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “have an impact on the kids as players and people and to help give them the foundations on and off the field.”

Mike Nugent

Mike currently plays goalie in the MLL for the Denver Outlaws and coaches at Goucher College. He is a Milton, GA native and was awarded two High School All-American honors and two Team MVP honors at Milton HS. He then went to Mercer University where he was a two-year team Captain, three-year team MVP, team defensive MVP and three-year All-SoCon 2nd Team. Mike has coached travel lacrosse with LB3 and Copperheads and also served as the Goalie Coordinator for DOCO Lacrosse in Denver, CO. In his first year, he coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “grow the game and spread his passion of the sport to youth while teaching them a good understanding for the morality and life beyond lacrosse.”

Brian Rowe

A Towson, MD native, Brian attended Calvert Hall High School and then went on play college lacrosse at Randolph Macon College. He currently serves as the Head Coach of the Calvert Hall JV Lacrosse Team. Now in his third year, Brian coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “continue my love and passion for lacrosse and my faith and to be a role model and leader to the players.”

Brent Hiken

A Pikesville, MD native, Brent attended Pikesville High School. He went on compete at Stevenson University where he was a two time first-team all American, three time all-conference, two time MVP and a national champion. After graduating he was a second-round draft pick in the MLL. Currently Brent coaches for St. Albans. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Stevenson for three years. Now in his fourth year with FCA Lacrosse, Brent coaches to “grow as a coach while I help players to develop a passion for the game.”

Pete Owens

A Columbia, MD native, Pete played high school lacrosse at Hammond High School and then at Messiah College. Pete currently serves as the Assistant Coach at Goucher College and previously coached at Gordon College in Wenham, MA as well. He has served in a variety of roles within FCA Lacrosse over the past eight years and coaches with FCA MD Lacrosse because he feels called by God to this role.

2022 Blue Coaches

Brian Kelly

Head Coach Goucher College Men's Lacrosse- A Baltimore, Maryland native, Kelly played high school lacrosse at Towson High School before playing collegiately at CCBC Essex and then at perennial national powerhouse Johns Hopkins. A midfielder, Kelly was a second-team NJCAA All-American with the Knights in 1991, helping lead CCBC Essex to a NJCAA national championship that year. At Johns Hopkins, the Blue Jays reached the NCAA semifinals in each of his final two seasons at the school (1992 and 1993). Kelly was named an honorable mention All-American midfielder by the USILA in 1993, and he was also the recipient of the Turnbull-Reynolds Award which is given to a player who displays outstanding character and leadership. Brian was recently inducted into the NJCAA Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2015.

Frank Kelly III

A Lutherville, MD native, Frank was a captain and All-MSA at Calvert Hall. He went on compete at Cornell University where he served as team captain and was awarded 1st team All-Ivy League. After college, he continued his lacrosse career at the Baltimore Thunder MILL (Pro Indoor) in 1987, ‘88 and ’90. Frank also played for the Maryland Lacrosse Club from 1987-1994 where he was awarded All-Club honors. Frank’s past coaching experience includes being an assistant coach at Calvert Hall from 1987-2000 and being involved with FCA lacrosse since coaching the first team in 1992. Since being involved with FCA Lacrosse since the very first team in 1988, Frank coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “share the love of God in a real and practical way and help players develop their God given potential on and off the field”.

Jon Wray

A Columbia, MD native, Jon was a two-time Team Captain and All-Conference defenseman at Oakland Mills High School. He then went on to swim at Towson University and where he serves as a Team Captain. Jon has coached lacrosse at all different levels for over 15 years. He was the coach at Oakland Mills HS and won an MYLA Championship with Freedom Lacrosse in 2014. Now in his fifth year, Jon coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “model integrity, teamwork, service and excellence to the players and families as they grow in their relationships with God and each other.”

2022 White Coaches

Torre Kasemeyer

Will be entering his 20th year as the offensive coordinator for the Calvert Hall Varsity Lacrosse program. Torre graduated from Glenelg High School in 1988 where he was an attackman. In college he played for Ohio Wesleyan and Western Maryland College where he was twice named All Conference and was an All-American in 1992. Torre is known as the best of the best in terms of skills development through his lacrosse company Got Skillz. He will be returning for his second year as an FCA Maryland 2022 coach.

Bryan Kelly

Francis X. Smyth

As a Baltimore native, Francis began playing lacrosse as a defenseman at Calvert Hall College High School. Starting defenseman on Calvert Hall’s 1977 championship MSA team and matriculated to Princeton University in 1978. He started at Princeton for four years, ultimately graduating Honorable Mention All-American in 1982. Francis’ past coaching experience includes 25 years with Kelly Post and LTRC and being the defensive coordinator at Loyola Blakefield in 1983 and 1984. Now in his sixth year with FCA Lacrosse, Francis coaches to “grow people through sports while passing on his love of lacrosse.”

Patrick Fletcher

A Silver Spring, MD native, Patrick attended Good Counsel High School where he captained the lacrosse team and was awarded All-Conference honors. He then went on to compete at Sacred Heart University where he served as team captain. Patrick’s coaching experience includes coaching various teams and clinics since High school. He was also a FCA lacrosse intern in Maryland and Colorado. Now in his third year, Patrick coaches with FCA Lacrosse to “pass along the experience I have received both on and off the field.”

Brian Hubbard

A standout lacrosse player at Calvert Hall who graduated in 1992, Brian went on to play at Michigan State where he graduated in 1996. Upon graduation, Brian began his coaching career back at his Alma Mater, coaching from 1997 – 2010. During his time as a coach at the Hall, “Hubbs” was the Head Fresh/Soph coach for 2 years, Assistant JV Coach for 1 year, Head JV Coach for 7 years, and Varsity Assistant coach for 1 year. He has been a coach and commissioner of Lutherville Rec Council since 2008 and will be entering his first season as a coach with FCA.

John Putnam

After a successful high school football career at Handley High School, John went on to compete collegiately at Elon University. He brings a wealth of coaching experience to the FCA MD Club having coached youth football for over a decade and lacrosse for six years. He is also the commissioner for the Towson Rec. Football Council. Now in his third year, John coaches with FCA lacrosse to “make a difference in a young men’s lives.”

A Hereford native, Michael has coached rec and semi-pro football for the past 12 years. He is also involved in coaching Hereford Rec Lacrosse and the Rock lacrosse club for two years. Now in his fourth year with FCA Lacrosse, Michael coaches to “impact, help, teach and mentor the players I coach.”

2025 Blue Coaches

Kevin Weiner

A Reistertown, MD native, Kevin attended Randallstown High School. He went on compete at Towson University. He has also played club for Glyndon, Interock and Koopers clubs. Kevin’s coaching experience includes five years at Cockeysville Rec and three years coaching the Ridgely Middle 8th grade team. Now in his sixth year with FCA Lacrosse, Patrick coaches to “pass along the experience I have received both on and off the field.”

Brian Kelly

2026 Blue Coaches

Carl Marinelli

As a Baltimore native, Carl grew up playing lacrosse and Ice Hockey at an early age. Following in the footsteps of 2 previous generations, Carl went on to play lacrosse and hockey at Calvert Hall '99 and was a stand out midfielder and face off specialist. After high school, Carl played at Essex Community College and led the team to the NJCAA final 4 and he was Awarded NJCAA 1st Team All Region and NJCAA Academic all American before finishing at Towson University in '02. After college Carl continued to play with multiple club teams in Maryland and continues to be active in the sport on and off the field. Over the past 5 years Carl has coached and been an active Board Member for Fallston Lacrosse. In his first year with FCA Lacrosse, Carl coaches to “build young men on and off the field and help build up their relationship with God.”

Jay Heil

Two Sport Athlete, 3 year starter, at North Harford High School. 1994 Maryland 1A/2A Lacrosse State Champion Finalist, and 1994 Harford County Co-Player of the Year, 1st Team All Harford County Defense, and All Metro Defense. Jay played in the first Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game, and All Metro All-Star Game, as a second Team Defensemen.   Heil was also selected as 1994 All Harford County Linebacker, where received 1994 Scholar Athlete, from the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.  He continued his career at Harford Community College where he was a two year team captain, and starting Defenseman.  Jay has his Level I Coaching Certification from US Lacrosse, and has over 10 years of youth sport coaching experience.

Scott Dively

Scott is a native of Towson, MD, attended Calvert Hall High School and went on to graduate from Towson University. This is Scott’s first year coaching with FCA Lacrosse, but comes to FCA after coaching with Towsontowne Lacrosse’s U9 team for the past two years. Scott is passionate about coaching youth lacrosse because he enjoys watching the kids grow and improve. He coaches with FCA Lacrosse because “it offers more than lacrosse in the ministry, huddles and life lessons”.

Riley DeSmit

A Baltimore native and graduate from Gilman School in 2013 where he was a captain of the Soccer, Basketball, and Lacrosse teams earning a MIAA Championship in all three over his high school career. Riley attended Johns Hopkins for four years coming in as an offensive midfielder and leaving as a defenseman. At Johns Hopkins, Riley won the inaugural Big 10 Championship and reached the NCAA semifinals in his sophomore year. Riley graduated from Johns Hopkins in the spring of 2017 and is now serving on his first year on staff with FCA Lacrosse.
