High School Teams Serve at Young Life Capernaum
FCA MD Lacrosse Kicks Off Monthly Volunteer Outing
On Monday, October 10th, players on the FCA MD 2018, 2019 and 2020 teams spent the evening serving as buddies at the Young Life Capernaum Inclusion Club. YL Capernaum “gives young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to experience fun and adventure, to develop fulfilling friendships and to challenge their limits while building self-esteem through club, camp and other exciting activities.” Volunteers at Capernaum Club strive to “model Christ’s unconditional love and acceptance as they walk alongside these young adults — filling their lives with love and support.” As buddies, FCA players served the students by serving dinner, building friendships and participating in Club activities. Activities included games, dance parties, skits, and a devotional on Jesus and Zacchaeus (Luke 19). Director Kate Goehringer was thankful for the energy brought by FCA players. FCA 2018 Midfielder Trey Smith said “I enjoy volunteering at Capernaum because I like getting to know new people and making friends while giving back to a good organization.”
We look forward to continue partnering with Young Life Capernaum and serving at their Inclusion Club.
